Endodontist, Matthew W. Baird, DDS
Dr. Matthew W. Baird is a native of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. He attended Penn State University, where he received his BS Degree in Life Science. He earned his DDS Degree from Chapel Hill, where he graduated with honors and was awarded the OKU membership in the National Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Baird completed his training with his Endodontic Certification at the University of Texas in San Antonio. He has served as the President of the High Point Dental Society and is working towards a diplomate status with the American Board of Endodontics.
He and his wife, Carrie, have two daughters, Aislyn and Audrey, and a son, Isaac.

This was my first root canal so I was a little apprehensive (fear of the unknown). Dr. Baird alleviated all of my concerns. He explained step by step what he was doing (which I appreciate). As I stated above, I could not have had a better medical experience ! Today was the first time I have ever had a root canal and exploratory surgery done. I did not feel any pain as I was numbed very well. Dr. Baird and Ashley along with other staff made me feel so comfortable and answered all my questions. I was very apprehensive but the procedure went so smooth with no pain. Most people are like me and very afraid of dental procedures like a root canal, but go for it at Piedmont endodontics.

It was very much appreciated. DR. MATTHEW BAIRD and ASHLEY (dental assistant) provided OUTSTANDING root canal treatment today! It was very evident, from start to finish, that DR. BAIRD and ASHLEY are the "Dream Team" because they definitely complemented each other! The staff were very friendly, courteous and professional from the front desk at check in thu to check out. Dr Baird numbed me so i could not hardly feel any discomfort at all. He and his nurse Korie were very detailed in letting me know what was going on during the procedure. He was also very friendly and he and his nurse Korie made me feel as if i was discussing my situation with good friends. I felt as if they both cared about my care and what was best for me.

Dr. Baird has a very welcoming chairside manner. Friendly, informative, gentle, and courteous. He gave me topical numbing prior to many injections - all of which were very nearly painless, less than a normal arm injection, for instance. He was dedicated to the procedure and informed me of what he was doing. He informed me of the possible adverse after-effects, none of which manifested. The root canal procedure could not have been better. Afterward, at home, there was no pain, no shelling, no bleeding. I highly recommend Dr. Baird for root canal procedures and welcome the opportunity to see him again if needed.

Dr. Baird helped me understand the procedure, was very confident, diligent and through in this procedure. Although the tooth that was to be repaired was too far gone, he discovered the adjacent tooth’s roots were dead and were contributing to my pain, and operated on that one as well. My genetics have caused years of pain in my teeth, but now I have some permanent solutions through Dr. Baird’s care.

Every single person I had contact with, from the initial call to schedule, until I walked out the door after procedure, was professional, kind and courteous. The assistants during 2 separate root canal procedures were right beside me, spoke calmly and were reassuring. It was a different lady each time but they were both great. Patted my hand or shoulder during the numbing which was both comforting and distracting. Dr. Baird was very professional and efficient. I felt like they were focused only on me and did everything they could to make me as comfortable and informed as possible.

From the initial consult thru the actual procedure the entire staff showed compassion and care. Dr. Baird has a very calming presence and was honest about some of the uncertainties with having to have an old root canal re-done. Who knew 17 years later a previous root canal could cause issues??? They explained each step of the procedure and called the next day to check on how I was doing. I hope I don’t have to see them again but I have no hesitation if I do! Highly recommend!
