Over the lifetime of a dental patient, individuals can undergo multiple episodes of dental decay and dental procedures, minor or major trauma / accidents that create insult / injury to the dental pulp. An infection within the pulp may lie dormant for years only to erupt/evolve into an acute dental abscess without warning.
As part of your initial dental examination, or prior to any extensive treatment planning, a pulpal screening should be performed. This will aid in reducing and possibly avoiding the acute dental abscess. It may also reduce the need for root canal therapy following placement of the definite dental restorations (i.e., dental crowns, dental bridges, fillings). A full or limited pulpal screening can be performed by our doctors in addition to the new patient exam / assessment by your referring dentist or prior to initiation of extensive treatment plans.

As with most diseases, early detection of the disease process is key to a successful result. Pulpal screening is an excellent way to detect pulpal disease in its early stages. Many endodontic studies demonstrate the importance of identifying a diseased pulp as early as possible, perhaps even before symptoms arise. Identification of the diseased pulp in its early stages can make a root canal treatment more comfortable for the patient and provide a greater chance of success.

Dr. Joshua Morrow treated me (he needs to be added to "What Dr Did You See") and he was the BEST dentist ever! This was my 4th root canal and by far the BEST! One additional comment though is the great referral I was given for follow up treatment as I had no regular dentist to install the final crown. Dr. Baird helped me understand the procedure, was very confident, diligent and through in this procedure. Although the tooth that was to be repaired was too far gone, he discovered the adjacent tooth’s roots were dead and were contributing to my pain, and operated on that one as well. My genetics have caused years of pain in my teeth, but now I have some permanent solutions through Dr. Baird’s care.

Dr. Leslie Malueg gets a 10 for bedside manner! She came in and introduced herself and shook my hand and then explained to me everything that she was going to do. Even during the procedure I felt that I was not just a nameless patient but an actual human being for whom Dr. Leslie and Faith were truly concerned that everything would go smoothly and as painlessly as possible. The Dr & assistant… were awesome.. I had some degree of apprehension but they were great at releasing any apprehension . VERY accommodating..as apparently I was getting a temporary filling & have to make another appointment at my dentist for permanent filling.. I am all about 1 stop shopping… They did accommodate me after giving my dentist a courtesy call..,I love my dentist but after stressing over this root canal for a few weeks (apparently I had this issue with a crown I had done 4-5 yrs ago that my current dentist found.. Piedmont Endo was beyond awesome.. The care I received was Fabulous… No pain or discomfort & I appreciated the continuity of care.. Thanks a ton!!

Big shout out to my girl Sherry. She is the best in trying to comfort me in every step of the process. Her engaging me in a conversation was not just very pleasant but it also took the edge off my nervousness. Dr. Stanley is a very personal professional explaining every step of the process and always keeping me comfort. Under his lead the time flew by and before I realized it I was out of the chair. everyone was so kind and explained what to expect in each part of the experience from the moment I walked in the door. Kayla put her hand on my shoulder to comfort me when I was a little jumpy at start of appt. Dr. Horwitz explained what he was going to do before starting the procedure but also continued to give me updates on how it was going throughout the procedure. I especially appreciated when I could expect to hear some noises. Everyone was efficient and yet didn't appear rushed even though they were busy. They were all really great.

Any time you go to a new doctor you are not sure what to expect. From the minute the front desk staff said hello, it just felt right to be there. The whole staff was awesome. Every single person I had contact with, from the initial call to schedule, until I walked out the door after procedure, was professional, kind and courteous. The assistants during 2 separate root canal procedures were right beside me, spoke calmly and were reassuring. It was a different lady each time but they were both great. Patted my hand or shoulder during the numbing which was both comforting and distracting. Dr. Baird was very professional and efficient. I felt like they were focused only on me and did everything they could to make me as comfortable and informed as possible.
